1 Corinthians 9:24-27
Here it talks about running a race. Many
people run races all the time- I’ve ran a few and the adrenaline that runs
through you (no pun intended) is really what gets you going- well for me that
is. And just like me running in those few races my race to the kingdom of God
is one that should be full of excitement and even fast moving just like physical
race. Always moving forward- I like that the Bible refers to following Jesus as
a race. It is- its full of its curves, breaks, hard moments, hills, sweet and
tears but also the joy and refreshing moments that He brings us to in perfect
time. The race with Christ to live as if it where my last is a race that should
have us all on an adrenaline rush for Christ. It is just that too- when we give
it all to Him He gives us everything we need to live on. He gives us the rest
we need even when the world says its not enough to function- let me tell you I
have met a ton of God fearing, men and women that have a lack of sleep and are
going and moving and functioning only by the grace of God and they are doing
the most work for His kingdom to come. I have especially never seen so many
people here night and day working and being there to disciple people at the
most inconvenient hours of the day and night- but with God all things are
possible and with God there is rest. To run this race following after Jesus
Christ is something we all have in our hearts- yes it gets hard sometimes but,
in those time, I’m learning are the times you really do grow the most. Its been
quoted in many ways before but it is so true. The work of God is at hand always
if you allow Him to be the center and to continue to center and mold you. Now
it says n verse 27 “But I discipline my body and bring it into subjection…”
just like running a marathon or any form of a race you must train some other
wise you will not get very far or enjoy it at all. The same goes for this race
we are in for Christ and to live to be more like Him. We must study the word of
God, surround ourselves around Godly people, and pray always be in prayer. God
uses to weak but He doesn’t do it and keep them weak- no He builds them up and
disciplines them in their minds, body, and soul just like you have to do in
order to train for a race of any kind of you want to do well and build off of
what you have done and worked on. Christ doesn’t just bring us to a place of
contentment; actually, we should never come to a place of contentment in Christ
and if we have then something isn’t right. He is always ready to push us
further- build us up- and make us stronger.
